Clery’s reopens

Published on: November 27, 2013

Last Thursday was a big day for O’Connell St with the reopening of Ireland’s oldest and  most iconic department store, Clerys. Yesterday, I had a chance to pop my head in to check out the changes! They have introduced some great new labels with the ladies wear floor finally looking and feeling very very inviting! You can feast your eyes on new labels like Almost Famous, Mexx, French Connection, White Stuff, Soaked in Luxury and Manoukhian. It’s light, roomy and there is a great buzz with gorgeous displays, christmas decorations and the famous Clery’s stairs looks amazing!

My favourite new label is definitely ‘Almost Famous’ which has some great colourful dresses and knits. My favourite was this jewel encrusted dress for €179.

A massive well done to Visual Sense, the company responsible for the gorgeous window and interior displays.

The cutsie Tea Rooms has kept that gorgeous old world charm inviting you in for afternoon tea or lunch. Love this little display outside the door.

I took pics of some other bits and pieces that caught my eye including these Radley wallets, which I am debating as a Christmas pressie idea.

Of course my favourite handbag would be the most expensive in the shop! Check out this little baby from a new label called ‘Numph’. They have some very cool winter jumpers and bags. This satchel style bag will set you back €385. *Sad face*.

Finally, on the more affordable end of the scale I loved this hat and scarf combo from another welcome new label called ‘White Stuff’ which is massive in the UK. The cute hat with bobble is €25 while the scarf is €59.

With the ground floor awash with all the high street favourites and the first floor now bright, airy and full of new labels I am not quite sure how they did so much in such a short space of time. It’s clear this is a store that is much loved and has its place in Dublin’s retail history. I hope it has a very very bright future. Now with a fresh and bright store it really feels like Arnotts and BT’s are being given a run for their money. I would definitely drop in for some of your Christmas Shopping or afternoon tea! The perfect place to meet a friend? Under the clock of course!
