Drama of shape and volume at Cos

Published on: April 4, 2013

This morning I took a visit to the Cos Autumn Winter press preview in the gorgeous (and brand spanking new) Marker Hotel at Grand Canal Dock. I AM A BIG COS FAN. Something about the simple silhouettes, luxurious and unusually tactile fabrics and fashion forward cuts that means I always take a detour into BT2 when passing on Grafton Street.

I would categorise the Cos lady as the typical French dresser. The lady who doesn’t like too much fuss, is a fan of neutral colours with a pull towards an androgynous look of crisp fabrics, leathers, heavy tweeds and oversized coats. Precision silhouettes and cocooning shapes are at the heart of COS for autumn/winter 2013, as the dramatic scale of nature inspires both cut and cloth for the upcoming season. Some key looks I loved included:

- Soft, simple wide leg leather trousers and shirts/ Cocooning shoulders and waist cinching dresses/ Crisp white shirts with minature collars and exaggerated volume at back/ Sea green pencil skirt/ Lots of navy, black, dark greens and oysters/ cosy heavy and long knit jumpers.

I also had a quick look at the men’s collection and would love a number of items for my own wardrobe including the shirts and a fab leather panel overcoat.

Enjoy the pics. Oh and get thee to The Marker for a Cocktail!
