Meet Catriona and Sandra. Having completed their fashion courses (my Diploma in Personal Styling) together after Christmas, sisters, Sandra and Catriona have just recently finished work with their first clients as part of completing their personal stylist training.

These fashion mad sisters (I have never seen one person with so many pairs of shoes….Sandra, I am looking at you!) got their first opportunity to complete 3 real consultations with clients recently and below is just some of the lovely results! The consultations included 1) A Body Shape Assessment 2) Colour Analysis and 3) Personal shopping where they got to put all their lovely style advice into practice with their clients.

Working with your first clients can be very daunting. You feel excited, scared and you always wonder if you know enough to help! As I tell my stylists, nerves are normal! They show you care. The most important part is putting yourself out there and ‘doing’. Personal styling is about opening up new options to your client and identifying all the styles and shapes that they may never have considered before. As Catriona and Sandra will be working together as personal stylists they worked together in completing their first consultations with Deirdre and Sandra who were luck enough to get styled!!!

A big thank you Deirdre & Sandra for allowing me to share the lovely pictures on my blog this week!. If you would like to get the opportunity to be part of a Stylefish training/ styling session, follow me on twitter as this is where I usually recruit for volunteers when I have courses running!

What colours does my client think suits them best? Brown, coral.

What colours does my client dislike? Red.

Does my client wear alot of colour: Yes.

What neutral colours does my client wear? Cream & Brown.

My Clients Colour Assessment & their best colours:
Gold was definitely better on Deirdre as silver drained her. So that put my client into the warm seasons, using the swatches Autumn was eliminated and Spring was the season best suited to my client.

First Characteristic – Warm.
Second Characteristic – Bright.

Best colours for my client are Coral, Violet, Turquoise & bright navy.

Top Colour Tips:

  • Think clear bright vibrant colours when shopping.
  • Dark and muddy colours will overwhelm.
  • Ensure to have good Basics, good denims, dresses, coat and then shop for brighter colours!
  • Foundation should have warm natural tones & should not be too dark.
  • For blusher use warm pink or peach & for lipstick try bright peach & coral.
  • Highlights really suit my clients hair but must ensure to stick with warm tones.

What do I want to help my client to show off? My client has a very balanced figure with a full bust. She also has a very defined waist.

What worries my client when shopping? My client could hold weight on her thighs so would need good fabrics denims/trousers and her thighs would be a deal breaker.

What colours does my client think suits them best? Cream, Tan, Navy.

What colours does my client dislike? Black & pink.

Does my client wear alot of colour: No.

What neutral colours does my client wear? Cream and tan.

My Clients Colour Assessment & their best colours:

My client does not fall neatly into a season. Her hair has warm tones & her skin has a warm undertone but her eyes are blue. Gold was definately better on Sandra as silver drained her. So that put my client into the warm seasons, using the swatches Spring was eliminated and Autumn was the season best suited to my client but because Sandra has blue eyes she can also wear some of the winter colours.

First Tonal Characteristic – Warm
Second Tonal Characteristic – Deep

Best colours for my client: Orange, Tomato red, Moss green, Deep Blue, Navy & Cream.

What is my clients biggest learning from her colour analysis? Needs to wear more colour and didnt realise the range of colours that she could wear.

Top Tips for Wardrobe:
  • Think rich warm colours when shopping never pale and soft colours that will wash you out.
  • Ensure you have a selection of warm neutral options like creams, tans and khaki’s.
  • Foundation should be warm, so colours such as ivory & golden would be good.
  • For blusher use peach & for lipstick coral, nude & mocha would be perfect.
  • Highlights really suit my clients hair but she must ensure not to go too light with them.
