Two years ago I set up Style Network with Clara Halpin, Head of Personal Shopping in Arnotts as an event where businesses from the fashion & beauty Industry could meet, network and be Inspired & motivated by other speakers! Last Friday was our third event in the gorgeous Barberstown Castle, Straffan & it was great if I do say so myself! There is a saying by Walt Disney that goes “All our Dreams can come true, if we just had the courage to pursue them.” To set up a business at anytime takes courage, confidence & a lot of hard work & to do it in Ireland right now is tough but also really really exciting!

There are in fact more people setting up businesses in Ireland now than ever before. A product of redundancy or perhaps a new realization of how important it is to have more control over your destiny & how equally important it is to follow your dream. It is without a doubt these people who will transform Ireland’s future & the fashion Industry is a fantastic Industry to be involved in!

Whether you are selling a product, offering a service, building a new brand or writing about them, Our aim with Style Network is to provide an event that is Inspiring; productive & relevant to the Industry we are in.

One of the biggest positives of the ‘recession’ is that it has given Ireland a new sense of togetherness that we have not really known before as businesses & people support each other. We not only want to share our own story but we get huge benefit & Inspiration from hearing other stories & that is also what Style Network is about. We will be inviting people & businesses who are part of Style Network to do just that at each event.

At the end of the day “If we were to wait for everything, absolutely everything to be right to begin, we would never begin.”

Style Fish on Stage with the lovely Blathnaid over the weekend

Good morning all. So excited this morning after such a super weekend at Woman’s Way Live in the RDS. Loved it all so much. Met so many amazing women, did six fun filled on stage make-overs & three Style Fish Classes! Thanks so much to all my gorgeous make-over candidates. I loved seeing them all strutt their stuff on stage after they had been pampered to within an inch of their life!

For me, the most important thing with each lady was to see a huge smile plastered across their face when they came off stage feeling & looking fantastic. Mission accomplished!

We went for looks with each lady that made them feel comfortable, stylish & most of all they felt like the best versions of themselves in! Thanks to Hourglass in Powerscourt Townhouse, Oxendales, Barnardos  & Laura Cassidy Design for all the fabulous clothes & Jewellery. I will have lots more pictures during the week, which I will Include in my newsletter. Who is this collection aimed at?

The collection is for women of all shapes and sizes. It was important for me that the designs suited a wide range of girls with lots of choice and variety. I have introduced some bright prints into the collection as well as a few girly pieces such as the frilly pink bikini with the gold buttons.

With over 67% of women finding it hard to shop for their shape, swimwear can be a nightmare! What pieces do you most recommend?

I would recommend finding something that each individual would feel comfortable in. It’s shard to recommend something to everyone as it’s a case of finding something that suits your shape. I always bring my bikini’s home before a summer holiday and try them on in the comfort of my home, that way I can see what suits me and what doesn’t without being on show!

Do you find it hard to mix being stylish with being a Mum!?

I’m not always stylish and dressed up! Being a mum means a lot nursery run journeys and running around after the little ones so I often dress down at home and have now found myself wearing flats a lot more! When I go out I like to dress up and put something glam on and being a Mum hasn’t affected that at all!

Did you find it hard to get your figure back after your pregnancy? How did you do it?

When I was pregnant I was always worrying about my figure and how I was going to lose the weight I gained however when Kai came along I was so busy running around after him and enjoying having a little baby around I didn’t have that much time to plan it at all! I was very lucky because my weight gradually fell off over a period of time by just being healthy and by generally just having a new baby. The main thing I had to do was concentrate on getting back in the gym to tone up and get used to working out again.

Do you think becoming a Mum has changed the way you feel about your style or changed how you dress?

Being a Mum means there isn’t as much time to worry about what you’re wearing or how your hair looks. I don’t think my style or how I dress has changed since having Kai but the size of my heels definitely has!

Who inspires your style?

There are so many things that inspire me from books and films to people from all over the world. However, like trends in fashion they change from season to season and I like to keep my fashion fresh and up to date.

Do you follow any fashion blog’s?

I tend to keep up with fashion  trends by reading a lot of magazines and by following events such as the London, Paris and Milan fashion weeks. I don’t keep up to date on too many fashion blogs but do follow Vogue and Cricket on twitter.

For most of us we are time poor! Having time to shop can be difficult! What makes your life easier when it comes to your style?

I think everyone has days when they find it hard to find the time to shop but that’s where Littlewoods Ireland is so great! You can shop online and if you don’t like the product, or if it doesn’t fit properly you can return it and try something else. The range of styles and designs are amazing.

Do you shop online?

Yes it’s so much easier, Littlewoods offers the best online shopping experience as the range is so fantastic and you can always find something for any occasion. I also shop in the high street online stores like Topshop and River Island and totally love Netaporter and cricket online too.

What would be your fashion rule to live by?

My biggest fashion rule would be to dress for your shape. Try out outfits and see what works for you but always try to wear something that accentuates your best bits.

What advice would you give for women who have got less money to spend but want to look and feel good?

I would suggest reinventing old outfits or adding accessories to them to give them that extra boost. Also, a healthy lifestyle helps you to look and feel good so it’s important to concentrate on that as well as fashion alone.

Who do you think are the most stylish women & why? What about the most stylish Irish woman?

There are lots of classic beauties like Brigot Bardo and Audrey Hepburn who will always be remembered for their style and glamour. Today Blake Lively from Gossip Girl has a really good sense of style so I like to follow what she wears and sometimes draw inspiration from that. I love Una from the Saturday’s look too, she always seems to pull off an effortless glamour look.

If we saw the love that went into the each Chanel Jacket, it would make us think twice about picking up Items unless the love between you and it is really that special. It does not have to cost the price of Chanel but the love has to be there.
