I was writing a piece for Woman’s Way this morning about maxi’s and thought you might like to take a peek! Loving the maxi for this gorgeous weather! It is the perfect ‘throw on and go’ item. No top half, bottom half drama! It is easy, fun, elegant and girlie. We’ve seen this look on tons of celebrities, from Hilary Duff to Nicole Scherzinger. You simply need to find the one that works for your body shape and also a print and colour you like!
Here are some tips to help you. Always remember that the general rule is the longer the better! A maxi that ends on your calf makes you look shorter and now, we don’t want that. If you like to show off your arms opt for a halter dress. If you have an hourglass figure you definitely want to show off that waist. Opt for an empire line of sweetheart neckline, which draws the eye to the bust and waist. Maxi dresses are also great for anyone who is conscious of their tummy. Why? Well think about when you wear a pair of trousers and a top. A line is created around the tummy or waist where your top meets your trousers. With a maxi the eye is drawn right down along your legs and away from the tummy. A perfect camouflage trick for those of you with tummy worries.
When it comes to prints, think scale! Let me explain. If you are very petite look for a smaller print which will look more in proportion with your small frame. If you are curvy opt for a larger print, which again will make you look slimmer and taller. With the sales in full swing, now is the perfect time to pick up a bargain. I have seen some great maxi’s in Zara, Tesco, M&S and Penney’s. If you have a wedding during the summer, the maxi is a star buy. Coast have some great dressy up options.
Below are some of my favs.
