My Top Season Buys

Published on: October 20, 2014

It is that time of the year again. Coats are being pulled out and all thoughts turn to updating your wardrobe for Winter. I am the queen of finding things that have something special about them, yet have serious wearability! You see I only really like things I can wear with lots of other stuff in my wardrobe! It makes me very happy to know I have spent money on something, no matter how much or how little, that I am getting wear from! So, with that in mind, I have done a little homework to bring you my top buys to update your wardrobe this season.

Embossed black skirt €72.50 Betty Jackson Black Debenhams

I love this skirt. In fact. I have three great black skirts featured on my list. They are versatile, smart and chic and can easily mix and match with lots of things in your wardrobe. However, not just any black skirt. Look for something different. Detail, length, fabric, cut. This skirt ticks two of the seasons trends – the midi and the luxurious fabric trend.

Silk Blend Jumper €39.99 Mango

Definitely invest in a couple of stylish neutral cosy knits. In fact if there is one thing the high street has done really well this season, it is cosy jumpers. I love this one from Mango. Check out Massimo Dutti, Boohoo.com, Zara and Warehouse & COS also for some great knits. If you haven’t been into the new COS store on Wicklow st in Dublin, you gotta go! It has two floors of wardrobe essentials at great prices. I love Cos because you are getting pieces that you will last you well beyond the seasons trends yet all their clothes have a modern, funky twist.

Jasper Conran €253 Debenhams

A fabulous coat should be your one big splurge for the season. It will dress you up, even when you are not dressed up! Yes, we all need a classic neutral colour too but for this piece I am talking a bright colour or something fabulous that is eye catching and unique. The hottest colours to have are orange, red, purple and pastels.

J by Jasper Conran 253Black Leather Mini €39.99 H&M

I bought this little number and I really love it. I have teamed with detailed, girly lace tops to dress up and soften and for comfy wear with cardigans, tee shirts and ankle boots. It has a lovely wide and supportive waist band and exposed silver zip at the back and is definitely a steal for all the fabric you get for €39.99.

Bell leather skirt 3995

Sequins jumper €90 Biba House of Fraser

This little sparkly jumper is one of my favourites too. It will dress up your skinnies and yet is comfy enough for everyday. In fact you can team it with just about anything you see on my list here. Biba has some gorgeous pieces if you are looking for that something different this season.

Hobbs Boiled Wool Waist Coat €215 Hobbs

Wear this with cosy polo necks underneath and black opaques as a dress or leave open over your skinnys and a smart white shirt.

Embellished Leather Skirt €246 Biba

Need I say more? This is a gorgeous little skirt. If your gone beyond the leather mini, this is super fun and smart.

Next Hat €30

Hats are big news this season. They instantly update a look and are cosy, practical and smart. Check out Parfois, the accessories shop that is quite new to Ireland for some other options I loved.

New Look Fuschia Pink Jumpsuit Approx €50

Love this for all the ways you can wear it! Team with a smart white shirt underneath, black opaques and brogues for a cool daytime look or bling up for evening with some statement jewellery and heels.

New Look

Shimmer Midi skirt €215 Hobbs

You can dress this up with crop tops and lace or dress down with flats, cosy cardigans or an on trend tartan shawl. The fabric is fine enough not to swamp even those who are a little on the petite side but heels will always give the most balance if opting for a midi skirt.

Hobbs 215

€89.95 Moda in Pelle in Clerys

This is one of my favourite shoe brands this season. They have a great selection of smart brogues from leopard print to lace up. They also have some great boots. Great price too for the quality. I love this patent pair with the leopard print trim.

Felt Tartan Skirt €24.95 New Look

Team this little skirt with cosy cardigans and belts (see below), flat boots or heels. Tartan is one of my favourite prints with options across the high street even if you just want a splash like the brogues above.

Linea Tartan Scarf €29.99

Vivienne Westwood has some amazing tartan shawls but if your budget won’t stretch, check out Linea in House of Fraser for some lovely variations on this trend.

Happy Shopping.
