It might not be London but it was great! I arrived in Belfast on Saturday afternoon for a frenzy of fashion over 24hours! After checking into my hotel, I wandered through the leafy suburbs towards the infamous Lisburn Road which was full of a host of vintage, furniture and fashion boutiques. I came across some great little gems including a second hand shop called ‘Something Different’ in aid of Action Cancer. This second hand shop was cute as a button with great vintage inspired pieces, jewellery and definitely the cutest fitting rooms I have ever been in.
It even had a gorgeous little reading area. How they get people out of this great little shop to make space, I don’t know!
My favourite high end boutique was definitely Cubana Boutique. Deirdre is the proprietor and clearly has got an amazing eye for fashion. She stocks a host of great smart casual and dressy labels with an amazing last season sale rail. Deirdre won ‘Fashion boutique proprietor of the year’ at the Ulster Tatler People of the Year Awards and it is clear why.
After finding myself a £12 blow-dry (seriously) I came across this little furniture upstyling shop (below). For the life of me I cannot remember the name but it was the best idea I have seen in a long time for using a disused retail space. People can bring in old bits of furniture to be upstyled into amazing one off pieces. I loved the raw, colourful and relaxed feel of this place and the girls were happy for people to come in and watch them at work. I loved the displays and they also sell some unique jewellery, cushions and books.
As if that wasn’t enough Saturday night I attended a catwalk show of fashion and millinery designers in the Botanic Gardens. Below are some of my favourite shots from an evening that was jam packed with talent my favourite being breakthrough fashion designer of the year 2012 Reudi Maguire. You can see some of his looks below along with some of my other favourite shots from the evening.
