Meet The stylists
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm going into my 4th year of Business Studies and French in Trinity College Dublin. I have spent the last year in Strasbourg, France on Erasmus so I like to believe that I bring a little bit of the French flair for style to my classes! I love style more than 'fashion' and always look for that extra touch of class in an outfit. I started working in Marketing for Julie in 2012 and have loved every minute I have spent at Stylefish. I'm also rugby obsessed and have a weak spot for kittens!
What do you look forward to most about being a Stylefish Stylist?
I first heard of Stylefish while watching Dragons' Den and I sent my mum to a class. The transformation in her confidence and attitude to shopping was incredible, which is exactly what I would like to achieve as a Stylefish Stylist!
Describe your personal style
I would describe my style as a mixture of 'City Chic' and 'Dramatic. I adore good tailoring and chic, classic pieces but I'm also a fiend for bold prints and colours. I tend to run from anything that is overly feminine or 'cutesy'! I also love accessories - I rarely leave the house without some kind of scarf and my FolliFolli rings.
Who are your top three most stylish women in the world?
Ooh just 3? Firstly I love Kate Middleton's effortlessly polished and chic look. Michelle Obama is the master of mixing high street and designer items and recycling her wardrobe in interesting ways. I admire Victoria Beckham's devotion to the basics, although her look doesn't vary much she always looks flawless and stays true to her personal style rather than bowing to the winds of fashion. (I have to mention Kate Moss here, while I don't always agree with her fashion choices, I am always swayed by her unwavering attitude which is her secret weapon!)
Where do you love to shop?
Zara, Topshop, A|wear are just some of the regulars. If I'm really splashing out Biba is my haven of choice!
What is your favourite thing in your wardrobe?
The Biba dress I have on in my profile photo! I love everything about it, the colours, the pattern, the fabric, the 60s style. I also purchased a full-length royal purple dress from Biba for my brother's wedding - it's the most amazing thing in there right now but not quite so versatile!
Your best fashion tip?
Once you get past the initial challenge of understanding what's right for body shape and colouring, follow your gut. Don't be swayed by sales girls or your over-eager daughters (I've learnt this one from my mother you see!). As they say, if you don't love it in the shop you won't love it at home.
Why is fashion so important to you?
Our personal style is how we present ourselves to the world. You never know who or what is around the next corner and I like to leave the house feeling confident about myself so I can grab any opportunity that comes my way!
If you were given €100 to create an outfit, describe what you would do?
It would depend on the occasion but for daytime I would get a great pair of jeans from Topshop and a classy shirt/blouse from Zara or H&M. For nighttime I would buy a dress because they are so easy to style with some cool accessories, which I would buy with the €100 or spend a little more on the dress and style with the many accessories I have at home!
When was the last time you went out in an outfit that you adored? Describe it!
I got a fantastic skirt in Topshop when I was in London for my future sister-in-law's hen party! It has a geometric print and the colours are incredible with different greens, blues with white and navy. I wore it with a white shirt, tan belt, navy tights and tan loafers and loved it!
