People in fashion talk about ‘wardrobe staples’ and the perfect ‘capsule’ at the start of every new season. To me that simply means those items we never tire of from our wardrobe and the only items that truly help us to get rid of that dreaded nothing to wear syndrome! You see we can live without the floral blouse or tartan mini skirt but we simply cannot live without the perfect pair of denims or classic tailored jacket.
…And yes there are lots of ‘essential’ capsule items that I count as super important to have in your wardrobe. Here are some other examples. A classic MAC coat, a white shirt, black cigarette pants, black opaque tights, cashmere jumpers or cardigans, a wrap dress, denim or leather jacket and the one I am going to shout about today – the perfect pair of black leather boots. Whether it is to dress down your winter wrap dress with a flat patent pair, to sex up your skinnies and knits with an ankle version or to team with the season’s must have leather mini they are vital for fashion survival over the next few months!
My inspiration (I love the girly v the punky)
Seen on the catwalks of some of my favourite designers including Balenciaga (in the cutest ankle version) and Versace (who went all out with over the knee and rock chic inspire studs!)
But of course you want to know where on the high street should you start your search! For a budget friendly pair I would definitely be heading to Penney’s or Heatons. Heaton’s have a lovely knee high pair with one side buckle for €35 (see below). If you have big calves try the website Duoboots.com, which can tailor-make for your measurements (3 out of 5 Irish women have large calves Now is the perfect time for visit Marks and Spencer’s who always have a good selection at the start of Autumn and finally, try Dune, the Arnott’s shoe garden, Shoe Rack in Pamela Scott and Office.
