I remember meeting Chupi at a trade show years ago and my first fought was ‘wow your tiny’! You always have an image (well I do!) of fashion and jewellery designers that you know about and I pictured Chupi to come across all powerful and scary for some very random reason. (It could be something to do with her fashion label being stocked in TOPSHOP). Anyhow, getting back to my point, she was one of the sweetest most energetic people I had ever met. She really impressed me with her get up and go and how she could turn herself into so many people from designer to sales to marketing for a business she was hugely passionate about! She has since retrained as a jewellery designer. Chupi now has a business that employs five people with her jewellery really drawing attention of the fashion pack for its fun, colourfulness and price.
Last Wednesday Chupi launched her new winter jewellery collection titled ‘The Victorians had all the fun’ at the Library Room at The Dylan Hotel. There is definitely an inner magpie in the designer as the collection encompasses delicate pieces in sparkling gold and shiny precious gems inspired by ‘wild and natural things’.
From pretty bird pendants, elegant gemstone earrings and initial rings, each piece is carefully considered and thoughtfully designed. Chupi began making jewellery from various items including swan feathers, tiny twigs, acorns and leaves. Each item is a labour of love, crafted and manufactured in Ireland and each with a story to tell including Chupi’s iconic swan feather ring – a ring cast from a real swan feather found along Dublin’s Canal Bank. Now, that is pretty cool.
Prices start from €50 and you can buy online at Chupi.ie. The collection is also stocked in Arnotts and various boutiques around the country. Check out some of the social pics below and spot the gorgeous jewellery!
