Like a kid on Christmas morning, I woke up this AM excited at what I was about to find from the Oscars fashion 2015. Oscars images circulate in the press for years after each event and so celebrities are known for ‘playing it safe’, not wanting to make the fashion news for all the wrong reasons! However, somehow the safety worked this year with some amazing gowns on show.
Many stars actually played down their figure in favour of couture craftsmanship and detail. Julianne Moore opted for Chanel Haute Couture gown with a drop waist and beautiful detailing.
Lupita Nyong’o also loaded up on pearl detailing; indeed, the halter of her white Calvin Klein dress, which had a discreet diamond-shaped cutout, was strung with a reported 6,000 of them.
Emma Stone usually heralded in the fashion news for bold choices such as a pantsuit, went for a pea-green, long-sleeved Elie Saab number.
Jewellery also played a big part in the Oscars fashion 2015 and was the focal point for many of the looks including setting off Cate Blanchett’s beautiful Maison Marginal gown and one of my favourite looks, a butter yellow Ramona Keveza gown worn by the stunning Jennifer Hudson.
Rosamund Pike was definitely one of the style winners for me. She went for a figure hugging (with a capital hugging) in this amazing custom made Givenchy couture gown.
Also in red was of the moment 50 Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson in a simple Saint Laurent gown. My preference would by far be Rosamund Pike’s choice.
Jennifer Anniston walked the red carpet with her beau Justin Theroux donning an Atelier Versace looking (as usual) natural, elegant and undone.
Finally, on my best dressed list was Reese Witherspoon in a classic black and white Tom Ford gown. She looked amazing, radiant and I thought the white was beautiful on her.
On my what were they thinking list includes Kiera Knightley in Valentino Couture and Chloe Grace
Moretz in Miu Miu. Just no.
